As I wrote about recently, I've been wanting to take my anal play further despite my fears and concerns. One toy that I hoped would help me is the Anal Pocket Rocket from Adam & Eve. As you can see in the picture, it's a pocket rocket vibrator with a bulbed and ridged sleeve. The rocket is 4 inches long and the sleeve is a little over 7.5 inches. Once the rocket is snuggled inside the sleeve, the toy reaches 9.5 inches in length.
The little bulb tip is 2.5 inches around or .80 inches diameter. The widest bulb right where the tip of the rocket starts is 3 inches around or .95 inches in diameter. The toy gains another inch in circumference once it fits around the widest part of the rocket (4 inches or 1.23 inches diameter). It uses 1 AA battery which is not included.
The toy has a hideous smell that makes me recoil every time I smell it. It smells because it is made out of jelly rubber. This means it is also porous and cannot be completely disinfected and should not be shared with others unless you always use a condom with it. And that's exactly what I did once I figured out how to get the rocket inside the sleeve. See, the jelly is a sticky material whereas the rocket is made of a much smoother material, so they don't exactly slide against each other. That is, until you smear a little lube inside the hollow part of the sleeve and the head of the rocket. The rest of the sleeve is solid jelly, but it's very flexible. Another thing: jelly rubber contains phthalates which are a concern for many sex toy users. Because the smell grossed me out, I covered the sleeve with one of my colored condoms. I used yellow because I hate the color and thought it fitting for what I had in mind.
Kinda cool looking, huh? Black and yellow do go well together. Knowing that plenty of lube is key to anal play, I applied lots of my thick silicone lube on the condom and my asshole. And that's when I ran into my first problem: The lube that helped the rocket enter the sleeve earlier was now making it impossible to slide the vibrator to its on setting. I worked on that damn thing until I finally just took the sleeve back off and used a paper towel to get a grip on it. I was completely frustrated at this point. Or at least I thought I was.
No, folks, I didn't know frustration until I tried to insert the toy into my ass. It would not go in no matter how many times I tried. It would just slide against my opening and then bend itself in half. It's too flexible. Apparently you need something stiffer to aid in penetration. This toy ain't it. It was just ridiculous, me lying there trying to get this condom and lube-covered toy to penetrate my ass. I tried sliding my already well slicked hand up further the toy to provide some semblance of rigidity, but nothing except failure followed. The memory of it right now is making me annoyed. Grrrr.
I'll keep the little rocket because it has good vibrations, but the sleeve is an absolute no-go and I can't recommend it to anybody. I suppose someone with a partner might have better luck with the toy, but I'm not sure I'd risk the disappointment if it were me and a partner. Lucky for us, Adam & Eve has plenty of other anal vibrators and adult sex toys to choose from in varying sizes and materials.

excellent review. You give us details, you give us reality and you really tried to make this work, probably with more persistence than many of us would.
Thanks for giving us the 'straight poop', so to speak ;-)
*groans* Oh, that was horrible, Kyle, simply horrible...but I loved it! Hee!
I'm glad you enjoyed my review. :-)
The pocket rockets shape is all wrong for anal play and it looks like it would be too slippery in your hand.
Well, the rocket doesn't enter your ass, just the sleeve that extends beyond it. I suppose I could've been clearer about exactly where the rocket ends inside the sleeve.
